Carved out of Black Walnut, Juglans nigra, the wood had been given to me by my friend Joel. It was meant originally for a gunstock but was saved by him and given to me a few years ago. There is something poetic about the "sword into ploughshares" history of this batch of human vessels.
Most everyone I have spoken with equate these forms with the archetypal feminine. Personally, I associate them with water, but that element is also associated with the feminine archetype! I'm fascitated by immediate catergorization that happens with these forms. I'm sure it will spur further exploration.
